Installation

Initial setup (unpacking new display)​

When you turn on your screen for the first time you must complete a setup guide. It can vary slightly between models so the below steps and their order may not be exact.

  1. Turn on the screen
  2. Select language
  3. Select Skip when asked to add a Google account
  4. Accept the terms of service
  5. Permit Google to use the devices location, No recommended
  6. Send diagnostic information to Google, No recommended
  7. Step through presentation
  8. Select Start to begin
  9. Scroll down and agree to the privacy policy
  10. Select the screens position, wall or table
  11. Apple AirPlay and HomeKit, select Next
  12. Setup completed, select Complete.

Optimize for Signage use​

  1. In the list of Apps, select One Step Setting
  2. Select Signage Use 104301670
  3. This will automatically apply the Sony recommended settings for power management etc when using the screen for signage.

Enable API access​

To make it possible for Smartsign to control power save, reboot and other system functions you must configure API access in the display.
This is not critical, but recommended to take full advantage of the display's functions.

  1. Decide on and make a note of which Pre-Shared Key (password) you would like to use. We recommend using the same for all if you have several.
  2. Press [HOME] on the remote control to get to the home screen
  3. Navigate to Settings ⚙️ → Network → Home network setup → IP control
  4. Set Authentication to Normal and PreShared Key
  5. Set Pre-Shared Key to the password you decided in step 1, then press BACK on the remote
  6. Exit settings
  7. The same Pre-Shared Key must be configured in Smartsign as well. This can be done either in the player settings after registering the screen or in the player profile (recommended, see FAQ).

Install Smartsign Android Player​

Known limitations
  • Landscape orientation only
    It's currently not possible to use Sony screens in portrait due to limitations in Android TV.
  • No video in screenshots
    Due to API restrictions, video is not included when using real screenshots

  1. Download the Smartsign Android Player and place it on a USB memory stick

  2. Connect the USB stick the screen

  3. From the list of Apps, select PRO mode tool

  4. Change the mode to Pro settings mode and confirm

  5. "Pro settings in progress" will show at the top of the screen while you are in this mode

  6. On the Home screen, select Settings (Gear, top right)

  7. Select Pro settings

  8. Pro mode will ask for several permissions, select Allow on all

  9. Select Install APK (only visible with USB stick connected)

  10. Browse and select the Smartsign Android Player APK

  11. Select Install

  12. Select Open

  13. Approve permissions for Smartsign Android Player when asked

  14. Allow display over other apps for Smartsign Android Player

  15. Select Server Address and input your server, then click OK (hostname only)

    • EU Cloud service: eu.smartsigncloud.com
    • AU Cloud service: au.smartsigncloud.com
    • On-premises: Use the hostname or IP that your server is configured with

  16. Exit

  17. The player should now launch and show a registration code after a few moments

  18. If you have not already configured API access, we recommend doing that as well, please see Enable API access above

  19. Once all settings are completed, exit Pro settings mode by switching to Normal mode
